Joe Gibbs Racing is changing the complexion of its Sprint Cup crew chief line up for 2016. Sources have confirmed to Motorsport.com that Darian Grubb will no longer oversee the #19 ARRIS/Stanley Tools Toyota driven by Carl Edwards. Dave Rogers, who is currently crew chief for the #11 FedEx team and Denny Hamlin, is expected to move into the role. With Rogers taking over the #19 team, Mike Wheeler is expected to be named crew chief of the #11 crew and Hamlin.

  • NASCAR Live: Eli Gold will sit down with the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion to discuss his road to the championship. NASCAR Live will air from inside the Race and Sports Book at Wynn Las Vegas from 4 – 5 p.m. on Motor Racing Network. This event is free to the public. Fans in attendance will have a chance to participate in the live broadcast.

JMI is the largest motorsports marketing agency in the world, matching sponsors with race teams and series. Four of the last five major Formula One deals were brokered by JMI. Brown (no relation to musician Zac Brown, who JMI's Brown insists "spells 'Zak' all wrong!") and his company only represent one active driver - Gordon - though they also represent former F1 champions Sir Jackie Stewart and Niki Lauda.

Tavo Hellmund who helped bringing Formula One racing back to the United States and his hometown of Austin, TX and to his father's homeland, Mexico, is now involved with a pair of F1 projects. If he and his group of investors succeed in acquiring a struggling F1 team, Manor Marussia, Hellmund said he'll offer a ride to none other than NASCAR's ultrapopular Dale Earnhardt Jr. He's also involved in a plan to create an F1 track in California, a project different from the urban street race in Southern California that Hellmund said F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone is currently pursuing.

When Sunday's race got under way on Sunday afternoon, it did not take long for tire issues to pop up. Chase driver #22-Joey Logano was running fourth in the opening laps of the race when his left-rear tire exploded, going down the backstretch. The shredded tire destroyed the left-rear quarter panel of the car, brought out the first caution of the day and took the Team Penske driver out of contention. On Lap 36, reigning series champion #4-Kevin Harvick also had a flat left-rear tire, but the car did not suffer any damage.

The Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas driven by #11-Denny Hamlin, #18-Kyle Busch and #19-Carl Edwards were all forced to surrender their front splitters and replace them with ones that were unaltered as the cars rolled through pre-race inspection for the AAA Texas 500. NASCAR officials said the confiscated carbon-fiber splitters, "did not fit the gauges" and would be taken back to the NASCAR R&D Center in Concord, N.C. for further scrutiny. The splitter on the #20 car being driven by Erik Jones, who is subbing for the suspended Matt Kenseth, did not have any issues.

#24-Jeff Gordon won the Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500 Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway for his 1st win of the season, 9th win at Martinsville and 93rd career win. Gordon led 35 of the 500 laps.
